Roblox Beta Guide
Unseen Liminality Wiki
Explore endless liminal hallways. Survive what remembers you.
Backrooms-inspired exploration horror — find 17 Areas of Interest across maze-like levels before something finds you.
Open on RobloxUnseen Liminality is a Roblox exploration horror experience by The Unseen Zone, inspired by Beyond Liminal, Kane Pixels' Backrooms, and Oldest View. You wander procedurally disorienting spaces — yellow office carpet, pool tiles, empty malls, hotel corridors — while hunting hidden set pieces called Areas of Interest (AoI).
The game is in active beta: expect unfinished areas, bugs, and frequent updates. Core danger is still limited compared to upcoming entities (Still Life, Headhunter), but Mimics and the Mannequin already punish careless explorers.
Your long-term goal is collection and discovery: fully explore four main maps, uncover two secret subfloors, and locate all 17 AoI to complete the game's primary progression loop.
Controls
Default PC bindings from the official experience page. Rebind via Q (Settings) if supported in your session.
Mobile and console use on-screen buttons; sprint is typically a dedicated button rather than Shift.
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Q | Open settings menu |
| C | Crouch |
| Left Shift | Sprint |
| V | Zoom / focus view |
| Ctrl | Lock mouse look |
| F | Equip flashlight (toggle with LMB when held) |
Objectives & Progression
There is no traditional escape timer in early beta — progression centers on exploration and the AoI counter (X / 17). Each AoI is a distinct environmental set piece: oversized props, surreal rooms, or narrative vignettes tucked off main paths.
Maps are large and visually repetitive by design (liminal horror). Bring patience, mark mental landmarks, and use the in-game camera to document suspicious doorways for later runs.
- Track AoI count in the HUD when you trigger a discovery.
- Use Level Select for main floors once unlocked; subfloors must be found manually.
- Badges often align with entering major zones or touching iconic objects.
- Upcoming updates promise formal objectives, Passive Mode, and deadlier entities.
Levels & Zones
Four primary maps are reachable from Level Select after introduction. Two aesthetic subfloors hide behind obscure transitions.
The Lobby (Backrooms)
Yellow wallpaper, buzzing fluorescents, damp carpet — classic Level 0 fantasy. Highest mimic spawn rates reported here. Extremely easy to loop the same corridor twice.
Access: Starting spawn / Level Select
Tip: Listen for audio cues; note stained patches and broken ceiling tiles as breadcrumbs.
Dead Mall
Empty retail corridors reminiscent of Oldest View. Eerie wide shots and distant ambience. Mannequin entity territory.
Access: Blue wallpaper room in Lobby (among other routes community is still mapping)
Tip: Treat distant footstep audio seriously; don't sprint blind into dead ends.
The Poolrooms
White ceramic tiles, ankle-deep or waist-high pools, humid air. Multiple pool chambers stack vertically — easy to lose orientation.
Access: Spiral staircase transition from Lobby
Tip: Evil Duck badge item spawns here; watch water depth before jumping.
Liminal Hotel
Maintenance wings, repeating guest doors, service elevators. Mannequin stalks here as in Dead Mall. Claustrophobic door chains.
Access: Progress from Poolrooms (community maps several maintenance hops)
Tip: Glance backward often; closing doors does not contain the Mannequin.
Subfloors
Dreamcore Subfloor
Surreal skybox, clouds, traffic cones — single entrance/exit loop with one AoI slot.
Hidden transition from main maps (exploration-only)
Frutiger Aero Subfloor
Nostalgic early-2000s UI aesthetics, bright blues and greens. Badge tied to 'The Promised Future'.
Secret doorway off main progression (see community videos)
Entities & Hazards
Threat list as of beta — subject to change after Liminal Home and Headhunter patches.
Mimic (Fake Player)
LiveZone: Primarily Lobby
Triggers a fake 'friend joined' notification. The account never appears in the player list. Approaches you; within close range drops disguise and rushes as a shadow figure — lethal.
Counter: Verify sidebar player list immediately. Break line of sight and sprint. Do not open Album UI during chase.
Mannequin
LiveZone: Hotel, Dead Mall
Armless display mannequin. Moves when not observed (Weeping Angel rules). Can teleport through closed doors. Currently reported non-lethal but extremely stressful.
Counter: Back away while facing it; don't attempt to trap behind doors.
Unknown Hazard
UnconfirmedZone: Various
Some players report sudden damage with red wall splatter and no visible source — still under community investigation.
Counter: Relog zone; note room coordinates for wiki reports.
Still Life
UpcomingZone: Liminal Home (upcoming)
Teased for Liminal Home update — behavior undisclosed.
Counter: Check patch notes after May 30 update window.
Headhunter
UpcomingZone: Global (upcoming)
Marketed as most dangerous entity yet. Passive Mode planned to disable for casual explorers.
Counter: Enable Passive Mode when available; travel in groups after release.
Areas of Interest (17)
AoI are secret environmental scenes — not badges themselves, but the main collectible progression. No official public list exists yet; names below are community labels grouped by zone.
17 total across 4 main maps + 2 subfloors
Lobby
- Oversized Chair — Frequently cited first AoI for new players.
- Floating Furniture — Watch for physics-defying props.
- SpongeBob Balloon (Meet Bob) — Touch for badge; counts toward exploration.
- Unlabeled Set Piece #4 — Community mapping in progress.
Poolrooms
- Evil Duck — Pickup item; badge reward.
- Multi-Pool Atrium — Room with stacked pools (8+ pools reported).
- Flooded Stairwell — Transition choke point.
- Unlabeled Set Piece #7-9 — See video guides for coordinates.
Dead Mall / Hotel
- Mannequin Gallery — May overlap entity spawn — keep eyes on statue.
- Maintenance Ladder Room — Hotel back-of-house.
- Unlabeled Set Piece #11-14 — Mall update added new wings — revisit old guides.
Subfloors
- Dreamcore Vista — Single AoI in Dreamcore subfloor.
- Frutiger Promise Scene — Tied to Promised Future badge.
- Unlabeled Set Piece #17 — Confirm after each patch.
Submit new AoI finds with screenshots to help refine this checklist. Entries marked unlabeled will be renamed when verified.
Badges
Roblox profile badges for zone discovery and joke interactions. Most are straightforward once you know the zone.
- Meet Bob — Touch SpongeBob balloon in Lobby.
- Evil Duck — Pick up Evil Duck in Poolrooms.
- Lobby — Enter Lobby (default spawn).
- The Pool Rooms — Reach Poolrooms.
- Liminal Hotel — Enter Hotel zone.

- Dream Core — Find Dreamcore subfloor.
- The Promised Future — Reach Frutiger Aero subfloor.
Equipment
Starter tools support exploration and documentation — not combat gear.
-
Flashlight
Press F to equip; LMB toggles beam. Unlimited battery; critical during power flickers.
-
Camera
High-quality captures for documenting AoI. Shutter does not alert entities.
-
Album
Gallery of your photos. Avoid opening during Mimic chase — UI blocks vision.
Tips & FAQ
Why do I keep getting lost?
Liminal design repeats motifs on purpose. Pick one odd landmark per run (a stain, a broken light) and only leave once you've looped back to it twice from different angles.
Is the game multiplayer-safe?
Yes, but Mimics exploit your friends list — solo runs remove fake friend bait entirely.
Graphics settings?
Developers recommend max graphics for lighting cues. Mobile players should prioritize brightness and headphones.
What is Passive Mode?
Planned toggle with Headhunter release to reduce or disable hardcore entity encounters for story-focused players.
- Max volume helps detect Mannequin shuffles and Mall ambience shifts.
- Screenshot suspicious doors — AoI often hide behind one-way geometry.
- After Mall Update, re-run Dead Mall for new AoI placements.
- Check this wiki's Updates section after Roblox event dates.
